4th December 2008 - Portable tents won’t be allowed during Haj (AN)
Arab News, 04/12/2008
According to Lt. Gen. Saeed Al-Qahtani, director general of public security, Hajj pilgrims will not be permitted to erect portable tents at the holy sites this year. The use of such tents causes great inconvenience, poses health hazards and can even endanger lives if the tents prevent paramedics and ambulances from getting to pilgrims in need of urgent medical attention.
Al-Qahtani added that a special security unit has been set up to stop people from using portable tents and to try to stop the sale of such tents in Makkah.
