29th June 2009 - Expertise sought to quickly identify swine flu carriers (AN)
Arab News, 29/06/2009
The Kingdom is seeking help from the US and Europe in an attempt to identify more quickly passengers with symptoms of swine flu at the country's entry points. Speaking at the opening of an international workshop on swine flu in Jeddah yesterday, Dr. Ziyad Maymash, assistant undersecretary for preventive medicine at the Ministry of health, said that 10 new fever-detecting cameras would be installed at King Abdulaziz International airport, which welcomes huge numbers of pilgrims into the Kingdom. Maymash added that it was hoped the Ministry's plan for preventing infectious diseases during Hajj and Umrah would be reviewed. The number of cases of swine flu in the Kingdom currently stands at 68.
