7th September 2008 - Pilgrims’ housing panel rejects 75 buildings (SG)
Saudi Gazette, 07/09/2008
While the majority of submissions from landlords in the Holy City of Madinah for approval to house pilgrims have been approved, a significant number have been rejected on safety grounds. Those whose applications were rejected had generally failed to make the improvements or modifications required by the field inspectors whose job it is to ensure that the accommodation for pilgrims is safe and of an acceptable standard. As a result, these landlords failed to meet the safety standards set by Civil Defense.
