Belief in the General Resurrection

Muslims believe in a life after death, a general resurrection of the dead on the Day of Judgement. This belief is an essential part of the Muslim's faith. It gives meaning to life and sets the joys and pains, the successes and failures of this life into a much wider and deeper context. It is written in the Holy Qur'an that those who believe and do good deeds will be greatly rewarded in the afterlife, while those who disbelieve and do evil will be severely punished.
