Statement on Hajj services

Arafat, Saudi Arabia, 9 Jan 06

Prince Abdulmajeed bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Makkah Region, Chairman of Central Hajj Committee and Chairman of Higher Commission for Monitoring Pilgrims Transport revealed that the Commission has provided the services of public transportation on the roads from Makkah to the holy sites, and in Mina this year's Hajj season.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, he pointed out that the number of transportation fleet exceeds 14,300 modern buses that can carry more than 1,400,000 pilgrims.

Prince Abdulmajeed noted that field committees for monitoring pilgrims transportation have started their works round the clock from the start of Dhu Al-Qidah until the end of Muharram .

The frequent system of transportation was implemented in 1416H and carried more than 117,000 pilgrims from Turkey, Europe, America and Australia, he indicated and pointed out that the system has been contributing positively to hassle-free transportation to enable pilgrims perform their Hajj rituals easily and comfortably.

Prince Abdulmajeed stated that more than 483,000 pilgrims will benefit from the frequent system of transportation during this year's Hajj season.

With regard to pedestrian roads, the Prince indicated that 50 new water-closet compounds have been set up this year in addition to a database on services along these roads.

He wished a successful Hajj season for pilgrims to perform their rituals easily and comfortably, thanks to the great efforts and capabilities provided by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and the Crown Prince
