Ministry of Hajj honors guest delegations

Jeddah, 15 Jan 06

The Ministry of Hajj held here on Saturday evening a ceremony in honor of delegation heads and members of delegations hosted by the Ministry.

In his speech at the ceremony, the Minister of Hajj Dr. Fouad bin Abdulsalam Al Farsy said that nearly three million pilgrims had performed Hajj rituals this year.

He referred, with deep regret, to the tragic incident caused by luggage carried by pilgrims at Jamarat Bridge and the ensuing stampede that led to the death and injuries of pilgrims. Dr. Al Farsy called for benefiting from permission in the tolerant Islamic Sharia to protect the lives of pilgrims. He emphasised that the Kingdom has recruited all material and human capabilities within a framework of an integrated strategy to enable the pilgrims to perform their rituals easily and comfortably and return safely to their countries.

Then two cables of thanks were sent to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General on behalf of the Ministry's guests.

Within the ceremony, Dr. Al Farsy honored the arbitration panel of the prize of the best journalistic work in Hajj from the press personnel for this year. The winners were from newspapers of Okaz, Madinah, Al-Riyadh, Al-Hayat and Al-Eqtisadiyyah,

All then attended a dinner held by the Ministry.
