Pakistan approves compensation for 42 pilgrims who died in Mina stampede

The Pakistan Government has approved compensation of Rs 100,000 for each of the forty-two Hajj pilgrims who died during the stampede at Mina on 12 January 2006, according to an official statement.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr has approached the bereaved families to ascertain the particulars of their legal heirs’ with documentary evidence for receiving the compensation cheques. It has requested these families to provide the requisite information, as soon as possible, so that their cases can be processed accordingly.
