Hajj Season projects strength of Muslim world: Iranian Official

Mohammed Mohammedi Ri-Shahri, the Head of the Iranian Hajj Mission, affirmed Saturday the Hajj season demonstrates the strength of the Muslim world.

'It is the duty of the Iranian pilgrims, as they have done in previous years, to work for peace, friendship, harmony and unity in the Muslim world," he said in a statement at Tehran Airport prior to his departure for Madinah.

The statement carried by the Iranian News Agency, quoted Ri-Shahri as saying that 'In these circumstances when the Muslims are facing various crises in Palestine, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Iraq, the Hajj season should be an opportunity to enhance the pillars of unity and understanding among the Muslims."

He hoped that the Hajj rituals will be performed this year in tranquility and in an organized way as the situation was in the previous years, through cooperation with the Saudi Government in view of the existing positive relations between Tehran and Riyadh.

He drew attention to organization of various forums during the Hajj season such as a Forum on Narrowing Differences among the islamic Schools of Thought, a forum on Al-Quds, as well as a forum on Ahl-al-Beit, and said these forums aims at the unity of the Muslim world in facing the enemies of Islam.
