Crown Prince Sultan makes press statement

Al-Khober, Saudi Arabia, 2 January 07

Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, tonight attributed the success of this year's Hajj to the help of Almighty Allah, the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and the efforts of all governmental and non-governmental bodies who took part in providing services for pilgrims.

In response to a question, Crown Prince Sultan said two studies on constructing a new expansion of the Holy Haram in Makkah and establishing an electric train in Mina and Arafat area are under consideration by the concerned authorities.

A small number of skyscrapers have been under construction in Mina valley to see the feasibility of whether to build more to accommodate pilgrims during Hajj, Crown Prince Sultan said. Asked whether the week ends in Saudi Arabia would be set on Fridays and Saturdays instead of the current Thursdays and Fridays, he said this matter had not been discussed.
