Minister, Dean of Paris Mosque review conditions of Muslims in France

Riyadh, 18 March 07

Sheikh Saleh al al-Sheikh, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance, received here today Head of the French Council for the Islamic Religion and Dean of the Paris Mosque Dr Daleel abu Bakr and the accompanying delegation.

They reviewed issues pertaining to the situation of the Muslim community in France in general and in Paris in particular.

Dr Daleel said he had briefed al al-Sheikh on the situation of the Muslims in France whose number amounts to more than five million.

He noted that the Islamic religion has the second largest number of adherents in France.

Dr Daleel praised the existing strong relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and France.

He hailed the facilities being extended by the Kingdom to the French Muslims when they perform Hajj or Umrah (minor Hajj).

It is worth mentioning that the Paris Mosque was established in 1926.
