King inaugurates laying stone ceremony for Riyadh region developmental projects

Upon arrival at King Fahd Cultural Center, King Abdullah was received by Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh region, Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Riyadh region, Prince Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf al Miqren, Mayor of Riyadh region, and a number of officials.

In a key address, Prince Salman, who is also Chairman of Riyadh Development Authority (RDA), recalled that Riyadh was the point of origin of the historical unification campaign launched by late King Abdulaziz al Saud which was crowned by the current Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Since then Riyadh, in its capacity as the capital of the country and host of more than 24 percent of its population, was the focus of developmental projects, he said, adding that other regions also enjoyed vast developmental projects, citing the expansions of the Two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah.

Prince Salman said the RDA, since its inception in 1973, as well as the projects and planning center, the executive, administrative and technical arm of RDA which was established in 1982, have strongly contributed to the development force in Riyadh region in a dynamic and specialized way that enabled it to achieve this chain of developmental projects.

He lauded the well-organized coordination between the RDA and other related governmental and non-governmental bodies.

He praised the role of the private sector in the development of Riyadh region.

Prince Salman said Riyadh Region Council has decided to implement a balanced development among its provinces.

”Within two years of your good-omen era, Riyadh region has enjoyed development projects worth more than SR120 billion”, Prince Salman disclosed while addressing the king.
