Prince Naif speaks on importance of tourism investment

Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Interior Minister, and Chairman of the board of directors of the higher tourism commission, has highlighted the importance of the tourism investments in supporting the national economy.

Speaking after presiding over a meeting of the commission's board of directors here last night, Prince Naif said the government has been giving a great attention to the tourism sector.

He underscored the importance of establishing tourism institutes and colleges for meeting the requirements of this sector.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prince Naif received the prize of the best electronic dealings in the Arab countries obtained by the commission from the ITP, which is specialized in information technology and electronic management.

Meanwhile, Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the secretary general of the commission, briefed the participants of the meeting on the activities and achievements of the commission.

The board of directors reviewed a report of the tourism statistics for 1426-1427 AH, prepared by the center of data and tourism researches, an affiliate of the commission.

The board of directors was also briefed on the study prepared by commission for the development of investments in the field of hotels and heritage buildings.

Meanwhile, the board was briefed on the outcome of the ongoing coordination with the higher education ministry as regards scholarships in the field of tourism.

The meeting was attended by Prince Sultan bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, the President of Youth Welfare, other princes and senior officials including finance minister Dr Ibrahim Al-Assaf; Minister of Economy and Planning Khalid Al-Quseibi; Minister of Education Dr Abdullah al-Obeid; Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr Hashim Yamani and Minister of Hajj Dr Fouad al-Farsy.
