Digital technologies in Hajj lauded

Cairo, 01 Jan 08

Egypt's Al-Ahram daily noted the technological and informative progress witnessed in Hajj process.

In a report on Hajj of this year, the mass-circulation newspaper said today that before heading for the sacred places in Saudi Arabia, pilgrims visited millions of papers and websites on the internet showing details of Hajj procedures and rituals.

No doubt, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has made great strides in installing a wide-range digital information infrastructure that enabled it to utilize the capabilities of the communication revolution and information technology in getting a smart management of the affairs of more than three million pilgrims with the least possible problems, the paper said.

It added that this also shows how the Kingdom has installed a world-wide digital network with its center in the Kingdom and cross-lines all over the world.
