Governor graces concluding ceremony of Hajj activities

In the presence of Prince Abdulaziz bin Majed bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Madinah region, the Hajj committee in Madinah held here yesterday a ceremony on the occasion of the end of the activities of the Hajj season.

Speaking on the occasion, secretary of the Hajj committee in Madinah Mohammed al-Nu'man highlighted the significance of opening the Prophet Mosque round-the-clock in line with the directives of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, and said that this development has made it easier for the visitors of the Mosque to perform prayers at any time.

He noted that the pilgrims who had visited Madinah amounted to 1,601,034 with an increase of 4 percent compared to the number of the visitors during the last year's Hajj season.

Al-Nu'man pointed out that the number of flights operated for the transportation of the pilgrims to Madinah amounted to 1544, while the number of the flight departing from Madinah amounted to 1074.

On his part, Prince Abdulaziz bin Majed lauded the excellent services extended to the pilgrims, and said the Kingdom feels honored when it serves the pilgrims.

The Governor announced his approval to establish a new branch at the Foundation of Madinah Charitable Prize under the name of 'Prize of Hajj and Umrah'.

The new prize will be awarded to persons who extends distinguished services in the field of Hajj and Umrah.

He noted that the Foundation will set up the systems and regulations pertaining to the prize so as to encourage the authorities concerned with Hajj and Umrah to develop and improve their works and create new methods for the service of the pilgrims and Umrah performers.

The function was attended by a number of senior officials.
