Makkah-Madinah rail link gets SRO boost (AN)

The major construction project involving the building of a rail link between the Holy Cities of Makkah and Madinah is likely to begin shortly after the four qualified consortia have presented their proposals in three month's time. An offical statement announced: “A technical team will review the bids to select the winner of the contract within two months after receiving the offers,” The project is budgetted to cost SR 20 billion. Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah ordered the implementation of the project last February and instructed officials to use Saudi local funds for the purpose.
