Holy Mosques gear up for rush of pilgrims (SG)

Saudi Gazette, 30/06/2009

Authorities at the Two Holy Mosques are fully prepared to welcome the anticipated rush of pilgrims from within the Kingdom and across the Gulf states to the holy sites during the forthcoming summer vacations, together with the thousands of Umrah performers already in the two Holy Cities.

The terrace of the Grand Mosque has been opened to accommodate the large number of visitors and a workforce of over 2,000 has been employed to clean and sweep the carpets, as well as to ensure some 25,000 water coolers are filled with Zamzam water.

The Presidency has placed particular emphasis on teaching the rites of Umrah and correct Islamic beliefs.
